Levon Kocharyan has built an impressive mining and oil and gas practice and earned an enviable reputation as a leading practitioner in his specialized field of mining law in Russia. He is widely regarded and sought after for his knowledge and practical application of law in the natural resource sector by both clients and fellow professionals.
Levon has 20 years of experience in assisting clients with mining and oil and gas projects. His practice area includes not only the corporate structuring of mining and energy projects but also advising clients on the structure of joint ventures to conduct mining and oil and gas activities; drafting and negotiating metal sales agreements; participating in litigation over title issues; obtaining and transferring mineral licenses; advising on complex tax structures and conducting complex tax work related to mining and oil and gas projects; issuance and transfer of shares; preparing and drafting legal documentation on behalf of clients participating in the auctions granting mineral rights in Russia.

In 2005-2012 Who’s Who Legal, Legal 500 and European Legal Experts also acknowledge Levon’s outstanding expertise, the latter stating that he is “one of the country’s finest mining and subsoil lawyers”. Levon is also ranked as a top lawyer in Energy and Natural Resources in Best Lawyers 2011-12.
Levon graduated from Moscow State Institute of International Relations, specialising in international trade law (three-year course in international economics and a five-year course in international law). He participated in an East/West Exchange Program on Business Administration at York University, Ontario.
Mr Radostovets is an honours graduate of Alma-Ata Institute of Economics (1976), and completed his doctorate at the USSR Academy of Sciences in Moscow in 1990. He has studied and worked in Austria, Hungary, Poland, Turkey, the United States and England.

Mr Radostovts has written several books on labour collectives and antimonopoly policies, and articles on the development of entrepreneurship, Kazakhstan’s accession to the WTO and development of export.
Between 1976 and 1991 he worked at the Institute of Economics at the Academy of Sciences of the Soviet Republic of Kazakhstan, first as an economist, and becoming Head of antimonopoly policy and development of competition.
In 1991 Mr Radostovts became Deputy Chairman of the Kazakh Government’s committee for support of new economic structures and limitation of monopolies. In 1993 he became Deputy Chairman of the committee for antimonopoly policy, and in 1997 – Deputy Minister for Economy and Trade of Kazakhstan.
In 1998 Mr Radostovts was named Chairman of the committee for regulation of natural monopolies, and in 1999 – Chairman of the Agency for regulation of natural monopolies and protection of competition. In 1999 and 2000 he was Minister for employment and social protection of Kazakhstan, in 2001 he became Chairman of the Eurasian Industrial Association, and in 2003 was named General Director of the Association of Kazakh Exporters.
Since 2004 Mr Radostovts has been President of the Union of Goods Producers and Exporters of Kazakhstan, and Executive Director of the Republican Association of Mining and Metallurgy Enterprises.
He is a member of the board of the National Chamber of Economy of Kazakhstan and a member of the Union of Kazakh Entrepreneurs.
Sergey Kashuba was elected as the Chairman of the Russian Union of Gold Producers in April 2012.
During previous ten years Sergey Kashuba worked in different mining companies: deputy Chairman for corporate development of the Zapadnaya Prospectors Artel (Sakha (Yakutia) Republic); deputy CEO of GeoProMining; investment adviser in Tugansky GOK “Ilmenit” (Tomsk Region) and in Geo-Systema (Moscow); deputy CEO for economy of gold mining company “Zolotaya Zvezda” (Khakassia Republic). He has experience in geological and economic evaluation of about 60 gold deposits in Russia and CIS countries and experience in structuring sales transactions of gold deposits.
From 1999 to 2002 he was the Chairman of the Committee on precious metals of the Russian Banking Association. He took an active part in developing legislative initiatives for liberalisation of Russian precious metals market.
In 1995-1998 he completed courses on “Banking operations with gold, precious metals and precious stones” in the Management Training Center (Switzerland) and in the Institute of Business and Management (Switzerland); professional courses on “Banking operations with precious metals” in the Banking Academy and in the Higher School of Economics (Moscow) and a course on “Custom Clearance of export operations with refined gold and silver” in the Academy of Management and Market (Moscow).
From 1996 to 2002 he was a head of Precious metals Department of Incombank and Investment Banking Corporation. Has considerable experience in lending to Russian gold mining companies.
From 1992 and till 1995 worked in “Poisk” Bank (Minsk) where he started as a head of international transactions department and worked his way up to Director of the foreign economic activity department. At the same time he advanced his professional qualifications in Swiss Bank Corporation (Switzerland), Commerzbank (Germany) and in the MIRBIS Banking School (Moscow).
Graduated from the Institute of Foreign Languages and worked from 1979 till 1992 in various state enterprises including Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the USSR.
Julia is an associate based in Moscow, specialising in corporate law, mining, anti-trust regulation matters as well as in matters of energy and construction regulation.
On behalf of clients Julia takes part in various transactions with mining companies as well as with companies engaged in oil-and-gas refining. In addition, Julia conducts legal due diligence reviews, drafts various contracts and corporate documents, assists clients with general contractual matters and carries out legal research and analysis.
Julia has an experience in working for one of the largest oil companies in Russia, focusing mostly on corporate and anti-trust law.
Julia graduated with honours from Moscow State Law Academy, specialising in corporate law.
Being a Russian native speaker, Julia is also fluent in English.
Mr. Nikolay V. Matyash graduated from the Department of Journalism at Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov in 1987. He worked for “Novosti” Press Agency in Moscow and for Federal News Service in Washington, D.C. In 1996, he graduated from School of International Service at the American University, Washington, D.C., with Master’s degree in International Affairs: International Politics.
The same year he returned to Moscow and started working for Petroleum Advisory Forum as Co-ordinator for Services and Equipment Committee and Transportation Committee.
In 2001, international mining companies operating in Russia invited Mr. Nikolay V. Matyash to join the Mining Advisory Council in Moscow. Since then he has been working as the Council’s Executive Director.
In 2002, Mr. Nikolay V. Matyash completed Corporate Governance Program at the Schulich School of Business at York University in Toronto, Canada. He was awarded with a Certificate of Achievement.
In 2004, Mr. Nikolay V. Matyash became a Member of the Expert Council under the Committee for Natural Resources, Use of Natural Resources and Ecology of the State Duma (the lower house of the Russian parliament) of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation.
In 2013, he was delegated to the post of Co-Chairman of the Subcommittee for Subsoil Users of the Committee of Precious Metals and Precious Stones at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation.
Mikhail Leskov is metallurgist with more that 35 years’ experience in management, engineering and consultancy for the wide range of project for mining and extracting of different mineral commodities. Graduated as mineral processing engineer in Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys, with specialty on an Engineering and Design for Mineral Processing/Beneficiation Plants.
Since that, about 10 years he has been working on large number of different projects located in various ex-USSR republics, Vietnam, Mali, Mongolia and Cuba for wide range of mineral commodities – from diamonds and gold to tin and rock salt.
After that together with his colleagues founded and then has been for 20 years uninterruptedly chairing NBLgold JSC (later known as NBL International (UK) Ltd), which long time been one of the largest engineering consulting groups at post-Soviet territory and worked for very large number of projects for many different commodities in Russia and in other various countries of ex-USSR, Asia and Africa.
After that worked on top positions inside such a structures as Atomredmetzoloto, Russian Platinum, Severstal, Gazprombank and Renova.

Born on August 28, 1955г in Tashkent. In 1977 he graduated from Tashkent State University, the faculty of Geology with a specialization in geological survey and mineral exploration.
From 1977 till 1994 he worked for Kysylkum geological prospecting expedition (Muruntau). Main areas of activities are geological survey, mineral exploration and prognosis evaluation of gold, silver, copper and other deposits.
In 1995-2006 he worked for Zarafshan-Newmont JV. In 2006 Mr. Makarov worked for NBLgold consulting company (Moscow, Russia). From 2007 till now he has been working for Arlan Investment Company. Mining sector of Arlan IC is dealing with gold deposits (Magadan region, Russia) and uranium (the Republic of Namibia).
Werner Klemens holds a Ph.D. in Geology from the University of Toronto and the equivalent of a Master’s degree in Geology from the University of Bonn, Germany. Prior to joining Highland in 2007 he held project managerial positions within Barrick Gold’s Russian exploration entities since 1998 and in 2005 became Barrick’s Exploration Manager for Russia and Central Asia. He also was General Director of Barrick Gold Kyrgyzstan which later became Highland Exploration where he was responsible for exploration activities at several projects in the south of Kyrgyzstan. He has been involved in exploration at numerous precious metals deposits, most notably gold, throughout Russia and the CIS, as well as British Columbia.
Dennis Kwong, Vice President, Business Development, joined Centerra Gold Inc. in October 2008. In this role, Dennis directs the activities focused on non-organic growth of the organization by identifying, evaluating, recommending, and negotiating value-adding business opportunities including corporate acquisitions.

Lou Naumovski joined Kinross Gold Corporation in September 2007, and is Head of Kinross’ Moscow Office. Kinross has been an active investor in Russia since 1996, and its Kupol Gold mine in Chukotka was launched in 2008, while in October 2013 Kinross opened the Dvoinoye Mine also in Chukotka. Kinross is the largest Canadian investor in the Russian Federation and also the largest foreign investor in the Russian gold mining industry. In September 2013, Mr Naumovski was elected Chairman of the National Board of Directors of CERBA, where in addition to his position as Chairman, Mr Naumovski is also on the Boards of CERBA’s Moscow and Toronto chapters.
Prior to joining Kinross, Lou was Senior Vice President at Visa International, Central Europe, Middle East and Africa Division (CEMEA) from August 2000 to July 2007. Mr Naumovski led the development of Visa’s business in Russia and the eleven other countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States and was also Head of Strategy for the CEMEA Division from 2005-2007.
From 1992-2000, Mr. Naumovski was a member of the Russia Team of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), including five years as Resident Representative and Senior Banker in Moscow (1992-1997), and latterly as Senior Banker in London from 1997-2000. Mr. Naumovski helped to launch, and was also the first Executive Director of the Canada - USSR Business Council from 1990-1992.
Mr. Naumovski has a Honours B.A in economics and political science from the University of Toronto (1978), and a M.A. in International Relations (1980 - specialized in Russian / Soviet affairs) from the Norman Patterson School of International Affairs at Carleton University in Ottawa. He began his professional career as a diplomat and trade commissioner for Canada (1980-1990). His assignments included Moscow, Atlanta, Georgia, Baghdad, Iraq, and as Deputy Director for Trade and Investment Development, Eastern Europe and the USSR at the Department of External Affairs and International Trade in Ottawa from 1988-1990.
Finally, Mr Naumovski is a honourary member of the Board of Directors of Macedonia 2025, a non-profit international association of Macedonians in the Diaspora dedicated to supporting the economic and social development of the Republic of Macedonia.

Over the past 35 years Dr Cowley has built a successful career in business, both in the public and private sectors. He has been CEO of major corporations in Africa, Russia, UK and the Middle East, including senior executive positions in Anglo American Corporation, De Beers, British Energy, British Rail, Murray and Roberts, the Press Corporation, Basic Element, Kinross (Russia), Maple Minerals Corporation and White Tiger Gold. He has advised several governments on economic growth and expansion (Oman, Malawi, South Africa and Romania), was involved in the privatisation of British Rail and British Energy and was one of two UK representatives on the Business Council for Europe Africa and the Mediterranean, (BCEAM, Group 7 initiative). Working with the Adam Smith Institute, he advised on the economic and industrial rebuilding of several countries in Eastern Europe, following which for several years was Senior Advisor on Africa (Political and Economic), to the World Economic Forum attending the annual meeting of government and business leaders at Davos.
In January 2013 he was appointed as NXD to the Board of Lydian International (TSX: LYD) and also NXD to the board of Blackmont Gold Group. In addition to which he is currently Non Executive Chairman of Energy Mining Advisory Partnership which provides Risk Management and Corporate Advisory Services exclusively to the Mining, Metallurgical and Minerals industry and is a frequent speaker at major international conferences.
Dr Cowley has a Master’s Degree and Doctorate in Engineering; is a chartered engineer and holds fellowships of several major professional institutions in the UK.

Randolph Lewis graduated from Washington and Lee University in 1995 with a degree in Russian Studies. Ayuna Nechaeva is responsible for London Stock Exchange’s business development activities in Russia, CIS and Mongolia. Lindsay Forbes has been at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) since 1994 and is currently Director for all Corporate Projects in Russia having previously been Director, Corporate Equity managing a portfolio of equity investments across all EBRD countries of operation in excess of Euros 2.5 billion.
Before joining EBRD, he spent 13 years with the British Linen Bank, the investment Bank subsidiary of Bank of Scotland working in both the UK and the USA.
A British national, he qualified as a Solicitor with Norton Rose in 1978. He has a law degree from Oxford University (1975) and an MBA from INSEAD (1981).
Currently he is also a member of the Board of Lenta, a Russian hypermarket chain. In the past he has represented EBRD on a number of corporate listed and unlisted investments in various of the Bank’s Countries of Operation. He has served on the Board and Audit Committee of the International Moscow Bank (now UniCredit) as well as a Board Member and Chairman of the Audit Committee of Orgresbank (now Nordea), both in Russia.
Rebecca joined CRU Strategies in 1995 and has worked on and managed many single client consultancy projects across a broad range of metals and subjects. From 2004 until 2007, Rebecca was Practice Area Leader for the Performance Improvement Practice and in particular developed this business in South America. Between 2007 and 2010, Rebecca spent time as Head of Business Development within CRU focusing on internal improvement projects including introducing an internal investment approvals process. In 2010, Rebecca returned to CRU Strategies and has taken charge of the group’s Strategy Practice.
Rebecca has managed a wide variety of projects include corporate planning reviews, management training workshops and projects on implementation of maintenance outsourcing and value based management key performance indicators. Rebecca is an expert on the labour related aspects of performance improvement. The project teams for these projects have included many external consultancies and subcontractors requiring a high degree of project management expertise. Rebecca has also provided strategic consultancy to clients, including acquisition and disposal recommendations on assets in India, China and Australia and metal purchasing advice for an automotive supplier.

Yulia Chekunaeva joined Goldman Sachs Investment Research in April 2010 and covers CEEMEA metals and mining companies. Prior to joining Goldman Sachs, she worked at Sberbank. Yulia has a BSc in banking and finance from the international programme run by the London School of Economics and the Higher School of Economics (Russia), and an MSc Economics and Finance from Warwick Business School (University of Warwick).
Andrey holds BSc (Honours) in Economic Geography from Moscow State University and Diploma in Economics from University of Cambridge.
Later he also received MSc (Honours) in Management from London School of economics and political science and became Doctor of Business Administration (Cranfield University).
Since 2004 Andrey has been working for Severstal Group, as Head of Strategic Planning and Market Foresight. In 2008 Andrey was appointed Head of Corporate Strategy at Severstal and he also became responsible for business development in the new regional markets.
During Russia’s presidency in G20 in 2013 Andrey worked as a Sherpa of Alexey Mordashov within the B20 Trade Taskforce.
He is currently responsible for Severstal corporate strategy, global market analysis and strategic resource allocation. In his new role at Severstal Andrey reports directly to CEO.

Mr Andryushin is responsible for increasing RUSAL’s sales on the domestic market by creating new joint enterprises and implementing projects to stimulate local demand.
For the last seven years Roman Andryushin worked as operations and finance director of RUSAL Marketing GmbH – the Swiss affiliate company responsible for RUSAL’s global sales. In this position he formed an effective commercial structure for the company, developed relations with key clients, optimised logistics and supply chains, improved sales of value-added products, and took direct control over RUSAL’s export management.
Between 2003 and 2007 Mr Andryushin was financial director of CJSC Komi Aluminium (at the time a joint enterprise of RUSAL and SUAL), financial director of RUSAL’s milling division, and financial director of Alcoa in Russia. From 1996 to 2002 he held managerial positions at the Belokalitvinsky metallurgical production plant.
Roman Andryushin graduated with honours from the economics and management department of Novocherkassk State Technical University, Lorange Institute of Business in Switzerland (ЕМВА) and the University of Wales (МВА). He has a PhD in economics.
Sergey Rezontov has joined Lysva Metallurgical Company as a CFO in April 2013. Before he hold a position of the Head of Corporate Finance Department in Mechel Group since August 2006 and Relationship manager in Metals and Mining Industries Group, Corporate Clients Department, Commerzbank (Eurasija) SAO since January 2004. He graduated from the Plekhanov Russian Academy of Economics with a first-class honors degree and holds a Specialist Diploma in Management of investments and innovations.
Until 1999 Gennady Skopov performed academic research work in commercial structures.
In 1986 he was presented with an award by the Council of Ministers of the USSR, in recognition of his development and implementation of a series of technological processes for the extraction of copper and precious metals from semi-finished metallurgical products.
In 1992 Mr Skopov became a Doctor of Technical Sciences. He is the author of more than 100 academic works and patents.
Since 1999 Mr Skopov has worked at the Urals Mining and Metallurgy Company as Strategic Planning Director and Deputy Technical Director for metallurgy.
Mr Skopov is a Professor at the Urals B.N. Yeltsin Federal University, a full member of the Academy of Engineering Sciences of the Russian Federation, and an honoured metallurgist of the Russian Federation.

Mr. Izbaskhanov was born on October, 26 1952 in a large family in the Kyzyl-ui village of Tolebi district of South Kazakhstan Oblast, Kazakhstan.
After school graduation in Langer town, during 1970-1975 he was studying in the Kazakhstan Polytechnic University named after V.I. Lenin as metallurgical engineer. After graduation from university he worked as a burner in the Ust-Kamenogorsk lead-zinc plant.
In 1976 he began work in the Shymkent lead plant and where he was promoted from smelter to head of smelter workshop.
In July 1985 by order of Ministry of Nonferrous Metal Industry of the USSR he was appointed to Head of Shymkent Lead Plant position.
After Kazakhstan had got its independency Mr.Izbaskhanov in 1993-1996 was appointed to the position of Chairman of State Committee on Government Property of Republic of Kazakhstan.
In 1993-1996 he was a Head of the first government holding “AKSUNKAR”, which brought together a number of mining and metallurgical complexes in Kazakhstan.
In 1996-2002 he held senior positions of Deputy Mayor of South Kazakhstan region, Mayor of Shymkent.
In 2002-2006 he worked as the Executive Director of JSC "National Company" Kazakhstan Temir Zholy".
In the period within 2006 to 2008 Mr. Izbaskhanov worked as First Vice-President of JSC “National Company “Kazakhstan Engineering”, which brought together machine builders, which were part of military-industry complex of USSR earlier.
Since January 2009 he was appointed Director of the Directorate for management of industrial assets of JSC "National Welfare Fund" Samruk-Kazyna".
Since May, 2009 he has been working as the Managing Director, Member of the Board of JSC "National Mining Company" Tau-Ken Samruk ".
Mr. Izbaskhanov K.S. has a number of development and research papers devoted to improvement of the technology and equipment in non-ferrous metallurgy.
For the merits in the civil service, for the contribution to the development of Kazakhstan industry he was awarded orders "Kurmet", "Parasat", five medals of the Republic of Kazakhstan of different values, he has titles "Honorary metallurgist" and "Honorary machine- maker"
Rodrik first visited Moscow in June 1991 and after university his employer was a Canadian junior miner in the CIS in 1996-97.
He has worked and lived in the Russia for over a decade principally focused on the resource sector in senior management roles for Western companies.
Based in London since 2008, he represents CRU in Russia, Eastern Europe and Central Asia as their Regional Director. CRU regularly consults for miners and investors in the region and separately Rodrik is an advisory board member for Silk Roads Mining & Development, a Canadian junior miner with projects in Central Asia.

Rajendra Pathak is the Chief Purchasing Officer for ArcelorMittal Flat Carbon Europe, Business Division East. Business Division East has manufacturing capacity of more than 9 million tons of Steel consisting of units in Poland, Czech Republic and Eastern Germany. During last more than 6 years of his tenure in ArcelorMittal in Purchasing & Procurement he has developed a vast experience of working in Central Eastern European culture.
Along with this role, he holds positions in the Boards of various ArcelorMittal Companies. His current role covers procurement of Steel Making Raw materials, Scrap procurement, Supply Chain Spare Parts, Logistics, Industrial Products & Services, Energy, Capex, Vendor development, LCC sourcing and Sale of By Products. The total spend of the Business Division exceeds 4 billion euros under him more than 300 people work in Purchasing & Warehousing department in more than 12 locations. He has been instrumental in consolidating and restructuring of the Procurement function to make it more vibrant, lean efficient and IT process oriented in many companies he worked. His virtues include change management, strategic thinking and team work orientation. As a result of implementation of many strategic ideas and focus on Total Cost of Ownership he has been able to bring millions of euros of value added savings to the Company.

Ersun Ozdemirel is the export manager at Borcelik, which is a joint venture of Borusan Holding of Turkey and ArcelorMittal.
After he acquired his degree in Business Administration in 1997 from Middle East Technical University (METU), he started to work in finance sector for 3 years in corporate marketing division.
Afterwards, he completed his masters degree at Duquesne University in Pittsburg, USA.
Then, he joined Borcelik, which is a re-roller specialized in cold rolled and coated flat steel and giving service to automotive, consumer (white) goods, radiator and construction sectors. Dr Ankur Singh is the Marketing Manager for DANA Group's Steel Trading & Coil Service Centre division since July 2005, and is also responsible for procurement & operations for the company.
